NC Aquarium is one step closer to pier on the Outer Banks

Date October 28, 2008

From the Star News:

“The N.C. Aquariums proposed pier on the Outer Banks is a step closer to reality, and that could mean good things for Carolina Beach.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that the Nags Head Commissioners have approved plans for the $15 million pier complex on the site of the old Jennette’s Pier.”

“The Aquariums intends to build and operate piers near each of its three facilities, with the pier in Nags Head the first one.

The idea is that they would promote educational outreach on the coast while providing recreational opportunities, primarily for fishermen, that have been disappearing as the state’s piers are torn down or shut their doors.”
